Testimony of Yvette Flores La Salde
Yvette came to work for my parents-in-law on 3rd Dec 2008. My in-laws were 84 years of age then. My mother-in-law was in relatively good health and fairly independent whilst my father-in-law had to be nursed as he had a fall and subsequent surgery on his upper spine. He recovered well under Yvette’s charge and could walk with a frame and later walking stick. My mother-in-law passed on 8 years ago after falling down the stairs. No negligence on Yvette’s part.
Yvette’s duties included general house cleaning (a double storey terrace house) and cooking besides taking care of my in-laws. In the years prior to COVID, Yvette would accompany my father-in-law for his usual medical check at the polyclinic as well as to church for the mid-week program on a weekly basis. She also takes him for his regular walk around a nearby park and ensures he does his leg and arm exercises using the public equipment daily.
After COVID my father-in-law weakened considerably with all the restrictions as well as with age. Yvette has learnt to take his blood pressure regularly and in later years learnt how to use either a hoist or manually lift him from the hospital bed to the wheelchair and commode for his daily bath. Yvette also administers his medication and supplements and ensures his dentures are kept washed and cleaned. My father-in-law just turned 101 in April.
Yvette is cheerful and has discharged her duties responsibly and independently. I highly recommend her as a care giver to any elderly.
